To highlight the healing power of art, Hope Children's Hospital in Oak Lawn invited area schools to submit students' work for a competition. The winning entries will be displayed at the hospital and later photographed for a book, which will be sold to benefit the hospital.

Among the artists are Tyler Hamer and Melissa Schaver, both of Palos South Middle School, whose "Caribbean Sunset" won third place in the junior high competition. Eden Hearons of Centennial Elementary School in Streator, won second place in the elementary level for "Two's Company."
