The following children's products were recalled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission from Sept. 12 to Oct. 9. For more information, visit www.cpsc.gov or call (800) 638-2772. Ages 0-3: • Comforts pacifiers, Apothecary Products. The pacifiers failed federal safety tests. They may break apart, posing a choking hazard.
• Dora the Explorer board book, Simon and Schuster. A plastic replica of a balloon may detach from the book, posing a choking hazard. All ages: • Bunk beds, Home Line Industries. A child's body can slide between the rails, posing a strangulation hazard.
The following items are under investigation: • Yo-yo water ball toys, various manufacturers. The stretchy cord can wrap around a child's neck, posing a strangulation threat. In all cases, the parent or child has successfully removed the cord, leaving no lasting injuries. Even though the toy does not meet congressional mandates for recall, parents should exercise caution. At the very least, cut the cord off the ball.
• Port-able play yards with changing tables, Graco. New safety instructions have been released following the strangulation of a 13-month-old girl whose neck became caught between the changing rail and the play yard. Ashley Ernst
