My daughter is turning 10 soon and we have exhausted our party ideas.

 

Pool party, roller skating, nature center, chuck e. cheese type places....  What is new out there? 

 

HELP!     

Are you looking for a home-based party or something away from home? What part of the city or suburbs do you live?

I'm in the near west suburbs. We'd prefer something away from home.

 

I've heard that some beauty salons offer party packages including hairstyling, manicures, makeup, etc. You may or may not feel this is age-appropriate; also, I have no idea of the cost. Another possibility is seeing a movie. I was at a theater a few weeks ago and noticed they had a small party room set up. It was pretty basic, but maybe some of the larger chains have packages. Of course, that would depend on there being a suitable movie at the time of the party.

My daughter, who will celebrate her golden birthday this year, has requested a visit to American Girl for a show and lunch with a couple of friends. Recent birthdays we've attended were at those new inflatables businesses (the latest one combined it with a animal stuffing event so each kid got an animal to take home-expensive). The kids play hard, have time for cake and presents and leave exhausted (thank goodness.)

We've had great success with jewelry making classes at local jewelry stores (Team Blonde for one in Forest Park).  Or a cooking school/cooking store (Flavour in Forest Park)  have day classes for kids.  There is a place (UpTown Recording) that kids get to record their own song.  How about getting toenails or finger nails done?  Water Parks...Coco Keys (Arlington Heights) or Mayan (Elmhurst).  Just a few ideas for now.......good luck!

I think she's made a decision!  We're going to Terra Incognito Studios in Lagrange.  She'll make clay pots with her friends.

She wanted to use the wheel and throw some clay - but they don't do that for birthday parties.  That's an idea for summertime. 

Hi i herd about your proplely, there is also horseback riding and bowling.

My daughter is also turning 10 this yr and we are doing a ceramic party. This entails going to a place called creative hands; they get to pick out a piece of ceramic pottery, paint it, glaze it and while it drys they open presents, sing, and have cake and ice cream. Then all the party guests get to take home their creations.
