Re: This week's piece of the prize, August 28, 2008
We have the Aesops Fables book & our favorite fable is The Boy Who Cried Wolf. My older son loves this story! We even started calling him the Boy Who Cried Loose Tooth, because he wanted a loose tooth so bad that he kept saying that he had one, even when he didn't! We also like the Tortoise & The Hare fable!

My daughter likes the Tortoise & the Hare I think mainly because we have a tortoise at home. She likes to take him outside to exercise to win his race one day. Rosie

Our family's is the Boy Who Cried Wolf. When my oldest daughter was little, we told her this story so much that now whenever we say are you being a wolf or even mention this story she turns beet red.

My daughter's favorite fable is The Boy Who Cried Wolf. She is always shocked by it and wants to talk to the boy about what he had done.

My son's favorite fable is an Aesop fable called "The Ant and the Grasshopper". I also like it because it shows the importance of preparation and hardwork.

Actually, I don't think my son has discovered fables yet. So, unfortunately, he does not have a favorite at this time. Thanks, Pete

Our family's favorite fable is "The Tortoise and the Hare." The kids like it because it shows that the 'fastest' doesn't always win. My husband and I like it because it shows that hard, steady work wins out in the end.

fables are new to my son but this discussion has encouraged me to read more of them to him. he is only familiar with the most well known stories such as the boy who cried wolf.

Our best fable as a family is The Frog Prince. We love this book because it teaches you to not judge a person on the outside but befriend them for who they are.

My kids love The Boy Who Cried Wolf. They think it's so weird that the boy's parents let him play outside by himself, and they always ask me why the parents didn't go check on him to see if there really was a wolf!

Re: This week's piece of the prize, August 28, 2008
My family's favorite fable is "How the Tortoise Got Cracks on His Back" from the book The Tales of Tortoise : Inspirational Stories of Wisdom written by Obi Chidebelu-Eze, Dove Publishing 1996. In the story, Tortoise, along with the other animals is invited to a dinner party up in the sky given by the birds. Greedy Tortoise convinces the other animals to change their names. He changes his name to "all of you". So when the first course meal is served the birds say this is for 'all of you'. Tortoise reminds everyone that he of course is "all of you'. This continues until the third course meal. By this point all the other animals are furious and decide to kick him out of the sky party on the clouds. He hits the ground and cracks his back. My son, jokingly, tried to do the same thing one day with his friend. He said his name was 'all of you' and the snacks were for 'all of you'.

Our family favorite fable is the "three little pigs" because this history teach us that we have to be strong as family whatever be the situation. Our strenght is in the Lord Jesus.

The ugly duckling would be our favorite fable. We enjoy the story of "ugly duck" turning into the beautiful swan. The never judge a book by the cover mentality.

We like the Tortoise and the Hare and the Gingerbread Man(Where the fox eats the gingerbread man). They are both fun and have a great moral.
