Re: This week's piece of the prize, Sept. 4, 2008

My 4 year old Grace probably asks more questions lately about who is in our family. Living quite far from our relatives in Missouri, Wisconsin & Gemany, we have a very close circle of friends here in Chicagoland. Some of those making loving deposits in the life of my youngster are referred to with familial markers such as Aunt Emily, Uncle Randy, Uncle Bob, Gramma Chris, etc. I'm very thankful for this extended family & delightfully explain to Gracie that our family is as big as our heart & includes all those special folks we love.  If fact, consistent & loving relationships with adults outside the immediate family are considered a vital component in the realm of external supports.  This is just one of 40 Developmental Assets that provide a foundation for our children grow to be confident, competent and capable.  Read more about Developmental Assets here.
These are the days of Grace~

The easier question would be what ISN'T my son curious about. He comes up with questions about anything and everything and makes me laugh constantly. I hope this sticks with him forever!

Both my son and daughter are most curious about when their grandmother and grandfather are coming over. I'm asked over and over again.  They love them so much and always want to play with them.

My 18 month old daughter, Leila is most curious about her belly button. She looks herself in the mirror and lifts her shirt to see her "button". Then she lifts up, who ever is near her, shirts too! The other day she was looking for the dog's "button".

My 18 month old son is curious about everything!!!! Right now he is super curious about the silverware drawer! He is tall enough to open it, but not to see inside. So, he stands there and takes everything out one by one to see what it is!! He is also curious about the DVD player, and anything mommy is doing!!

My 3 year old daughter is most curious about her brain at this moment.  We have a medical book that has pictures of the brain in it and she loves to look at it and asks questions.  She says "can we talk about my brain tonight" and then we pull out the book and look at it.  My son is only 1 so he is just curious about everything.  I would say the number one thing he has discovered and is pretty fascinated about would be noses and ears.  He has discovered that he can fit his fingers in them.

My daughter is potty training right now.  She is very curious about babies getting their diapers changed and whether or not they have pooped.  She's putting all the pieces together about the whole potty experience.

My 4 yr old son is curious about anything but mostly science.  He is into the WHY stage.  My 17 month old daughter is curious about everything around her.  She keeps herself busy  all the time.

Re: This week's piece of the prize, Sept. 4, 2008

My 3 year old daughter is curious about everything. Who I'm talking to on the phone, what does that road sign say, who is that stranger in the line at the bank, what is that loud noise down the street, what color is that picture, etc.  Strangely enough, she usually questions things she knows the answer to - like why is Ariel sad (she has seen The Little Mermaid many times).  When we turn the question around on her ("Why IS Ariel sad?"), she'll provide the answer.  She just likes to ask a lot of questions.

My 17 month old is most curious about big tummies, he likes to hit them like a drum and giggle at the wiggles....Also my 8 year old is curious about how everthing works, why does this and why does that... when i can't give her an answer that is satisfactory she then has to go look it up in a book or online.

My eight year old daughter is most curious about "school! How many people are in it? And if my teacher is going to be nice this year? And what I am going to learn about? I want to learn about different countries, oceans and animals!"

My six year old son is curious about "Ewoks and Star Wars! I want to know everything!"

OH kids aren't they the curious creatures on earth.  "What are you doing? and Why?"  It's obvious I'm cooking and they are still asking "What are you doing? and Why?"  I'm glad my children are out growing the habit of asking why????  I must say they are curious about everything.  I cannot pin point a specific thing. I'm the one actually curious about what's on their mind.
