OK, the holiday madness is done and my holiday-induced cold has nearly run its course, so it's time again to think about traveling with your family (or maybe you'd prefer to think about traveling without them after two weeks off school....)
The post-holiday period is a great time to book a trip. Both United and American have fare sales on right now (but book quickly because these things don't last forever and there often aren't that many seats available at the really low price).
Travelzoo, one of my favorite sites for travel deals, passes along the news that FunJet vacations has three-night, all-inclusive packages to Mexico for just $399.99 per person. It includes roundtrip airfare from Chicago, which alone can cost more than $300. Drinks, meals, snacks and gratuities are included. Kids under 12 stay free. But don't dwadle. You must book by Jan. 17.
A note about all-inclusive resorts: I love them, especially when traveling with kids who are picky eaters. It used to be a big source of vacation stress when we would go into a restaurant, the kids would order something, not like it and then go away hungry. At all-inclusives, if they don't like what they took off the buffet, they can go back for something else. As an added bonus, you always know exactly how much the trip is going to cost--no variables for meals or even drinks at the resorts where drinks are included as well.
Happy travels.
