Holidays, birthdays, even routine shopping trips—they all involve products or gifts in packages that are impossible to open. This bright orange contraption features angled cutting shears, a retractable utility blade and a dual head screwdriver. The shears cut through the toughest plastic like butter while the utility blade is handy for slicing open those pesky stickers on DVDs and CDs. The little hidden screwdriver is perfect for opening those battery compartments that you realize at the last second are secured shut with the tiniest screw known to man. The best part is that all these things are easily located in one product so you don’t have to go scrambling for what you need. Plus the shears can be locked (which also locks in the screwdriver), so little ones can’t just grab them and start cutting. The utility blade can be accessed when the shears are locked, however, and even though you have to hold down a sliding button to expose the blade, little hands and fingers could still get hurt. The packaging does say to keep out of reach of children. So while these are definitely a “mom and dad only” type of product, I know I’ll be keeping them around for a long time to come.
