When I was a little girl, Lake Geneva was our go-to summer destination. I fondly remember long days on the boat, swimming in the lake, tubing, waterskiing, picnics, popcorn, hanging out with my cousins, falling asleep to a Nancy Drew book at the end of the day. So it was fun to repeat that childhood fun with a return to Lake Geneva this past week with my children and their cousins (Grandma too!).
We settled into the Abbey Resort, the perfectt spot for family with children of all ages. My baby appreciated the 0 - depth pool with the a myriad of fountains to splash in, while my son and his cousins, ranging in ages from 9 to 12, loved the large pool with the floating snake and log, slides, basketball net and pool toys. Grandma and I liked the hot tub and lounging on the chaises. We could have spent an entire day there - and we did! The kids also liked the outdoor games found throughout the lovely lakeside property (giant chess board was a fave), and the arcade. Check out theabbeyresort.com/recreation for a full listing of kids activities.
We also joined up with other famiily members for a boat ride (boats are also available for rental at Gordy's on Fontana beach) and had a blast jumping off and into the clear, spring fed waters of the beautiful lake. The downtown area was just right for kitschy souvenir shopping, dining and of course, ice cream. We also set off from downtown on a mini hike along the lake: a scenic path takes you all the way around - 21 miles! - and past some of the most spectacular summer "cottages" you'll ever see.
