With an orchestrated wink of an eye, our family traveled along with Alice, down the rabbit hole and into the world of utter craziness and nonsense at a Friday night performance of lookingglass Alice (at Chicago's renown lookingglass Theater located in the Chicago Water Tower Water Works). From the whimsical circus atmosphere to the ultra-talented cast members who seamlessly pulled out multiple roles, we found ourselves wavering between laughter and eyes-wide-open amazement during the 1.5 hour long performance.

Molly Brennen, the mad Red Queen walked in stilts over her crazy realm, demanding the audience's full attention. The intense Cheshire Cat, Anthony Fleming III, with his tattooed arms and kitten tail, was a psychedelic tribute to the original. Lauren Hirte displayed the innocence and curiosity of young Alice (and all children).

Nothing can compare to live theater in Chicago: we are blessed to live in city that features such an array of theaters, small and large, coupled with an incomparably talented pool of actors. Lookingglass Alice is a show that captures the attention of both young and old - the perfect venue for a foray into the world of live theater with your children.

Don't miss (!!!) Lookingglass Alice - now playing at the lookingglass Theater, located in the Chicago Water Tower Water Works - until August 1st.
