Meet Cathy Cassani Adams

About this blog

Cathy Cassani Adams is searching for greater meaning and higher purpose. Her search has taken her down different paths, from the aisles of the self-help section, to the workshops of gurus, to her past experience as a child and family therapist at Children's Memorial Hospital, to her current work as a certified Parent Coach and yoga instructor.  But her greatest lessons come from her three beautiful daughters, ages 8, 6, and 3.  Cathy is the author of "The Self-Aware Parent: 19 Lessons for Growing with Your Children.", she's an instructor in the Sociology Department at Dominican University, and she and her husband Todd host Zen Parenting Radio on Pagatim.fm.  Cathy lives with her family in Elmhurst and she can be found at www.cathycassaniadams.com.

The Birthday Video

Posted Nov 9, 2010 3:21 PM

I do not find joy in scrapbooking, keeping a baby book, or keeping a photo album of my children’s milestones. And unfortunately, I often beat myself up about not fulfilling this “parenting duty”, the belief that we are supposed to capture every moment of our children’s lives.

The Definition of Success

Posted Nov 2, 2010 2:09 PM

Yesterday I listened to a radio show about parenting, specifically how we can best raise successful children. Author Elizabeth Lesser described “two sides” of parenting, both vitally important for the successful development of a child. She described each side as a wing, because if used together they allow our children to fly.

Posted Oct 12, 2010 12:23 PM

Do you remember when every moment was new? When every experience wasn’t burdened with, I’ve done this before, I hope this ends quickly, or I hope this doesn’t turn out like the last time…
