Pretending kind of sucks

And honestly, pretending is just tiring and it kind of sucks - pretending to care when I don’t or that I don’t when I do. Pretending to be someone I am not, pretending that everything is OK when it isn’t. Pretending takes a toll on energy, spirit, and overall wellness.

I remember watching the original interview with James Frey in 2006; it made me so uncomfortable and so sad. I’m not a fan of seeing anyone publically disgraced and ridiculed, especially when the mistake is so human, so common. But I’m so glad I watched it, because it became one of my greatest teachings....

Children live in the present. They don’t linger in the past and incessantly ponder the future. They live right now, which makes it easy for them to realize when we are mentally somewhere else.

Their choices thus far have been typical – school, job, kids….the questions were laid out and the decisions were clear. But now they are here and they feel unsettled, like something is missing.
