Facebook for a worthy cause
Monday, March 15, 2010First, some numbers: Every day, about 300 people call the Illinois Poison Center for help. More than half of those calls involve kids 5 and under.
Nationally, more than 700,000 people
go to emergency rooms each year from poison exposures, and death
rates have been climbing steadily since the early 1990s.
And yet funding for the center is dangerously low, and staff and services are in danger of being cut.
Do I have your attention yet?
The good news is that there's a quick and simple way to help. This week (March 14-20), the center is holding a Facebook fan drive. For every new fan, Savvy Daddy, an online community of dads, will donate $1.
Become a fan here to make sure the Illinois Poison Center is there if you ever need it.
