About this blog
When I tell people that I am a nanny, more often than not I am asked if I have a flying umbrella. I unfortunately do not, just to clarify. Actually, this is my very first year in a full-time situation with a family and I am excited to have Chicago Parent along for the ride (I might earn my umbrella further down the road). I decided to quit my uber-stressful job, to become a nanny/driver/surrogate mother for two preteens living in Lincoln Park while I focus on applying graduate school. Most of my childcare experience came from babysitting, running summer camps and after school programs, and also working for a children's creative studio. Becoming a nanny seemed to make sense for the time being.
What makes a good teacher, and can I be one?
