Ah, puberty. A magical time in any child's (and parent's) life. Most girls begin puberty around age 10, and most boys around age 12.

But what if your child starts puberty at age 6? 5? Early puberty, also sometimes called precocious puberty, is the onset of puberty before the age of 7 or 8 in girls or 9 in boys. While it's not usually medically a cause for concern, it can bring a host of social problems and should warrant a trip to your pediatrician.
