I'm a travel writer, so that generally means I get treated better than your average traveler. But here at Universal Studios, the theme park in Orlando, I'm not the only one getting the VIP treatment. It's available to everyone who stays at one of the three hotels onsite or visitors who buy a Universal Express Plus Pass.

Universal entranceTess and I are here as a guest of Universal and we spent the day at the theme park. Since we're staying at the Hard Rock Hotel we have passes that give us access to the Express line.

Santa paradeIt was a busy day at the park today (despite relatively cool Florida temperatures and the snowstorm on the East Coast that left a lot of travelers stranded). Many of the lines had posted waiting times of 60 minutes or longer; we never waited more than 15 minutes to get on a ride. We did everything we wanted to do at the park, including watching the holiday parade, in five hours.
