4 days of family fun at the Naperville Jaycees Last Fling

Want to bid summer a fond farewell while having a ton of family fun? Then head to the western suburbs of Chicago over Labor Day weekend for the Naperville Jaycees Last Fling, a four-day event celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

Family Fun Land

Family Fun Land features a variety of activities, including pony rides, a petting zoo, a crafts area and Bounce Town bouncies. Best of all, there is free admission to the area each day. Family Fun Land is open from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The Family Entertainment stage in Family Fun Land will host many performers. The McNulty Irish Dancers, School of Rock – Naperville and Cold Blooded Creatures will appear each day. Miss Jamie’s Farm-Music Show is a barnyard adventure for toddlers and preschoolers. Don’t miss the sing a-long and character meet and greet with Anna, Elsa and Hans. Find the full schedule of performers here.

Army Fun Zone

A new feature of the Last Fling this year is the Army Fun Zone. Located inside Family Fun Land, it is an area where kids of all ages can get up close and personal with some of the Army’s most advanced tactical equipment, including an M113 Armored Personnel Carrier, HEMTT truck wrecker, LMTV Troop Carrier, HMMWV HUMVEE and an MRAP! Various other tents will be available for camouflage face painting, customized dog tags and photos with a soldier.

Meet Disney Channel star Calum Worthy

Calum Worthy, who plays Dez of Disney Channel’s hit series “Austin & Ally,” will appear at a meet-and-greet at the Last Fling on Sunday, Sept. 6.  Wristbands are required and they will be available at 10 a.m. that day, with the meet-and-greet taking place from 3-5 p.m.

Last Fling Labor Day Parade

We love a parade, and the The 2015 Last Fling Labor Day Parade steps off at 10 a.m. on Labor Day – Monday, Sept. 7.

Carnival

A ride on the Ferris wheel is a great way to end the summer. Unlike the prior three events, the Carnival portion of the Last Fling is not free. Rides range from two to six tickets per person and tickets are $1.25. The good news is that it is a lot of fun and the proceeds benefit non-profit organizations in the community and throughout DuPage County.

Take advantage of Carnival Deal Days on Saturday, Sept. 5, from 10 a.m – 4 p.m. and Monday, Sept. 7 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. with unlimited rides for $30 per person, per day.

Special needs carnival goers get exclusive, priority, no-wait seating with special wristband on Sunday, Sept. 6, from 9-10 a.m.

For adults

The Last Fling offers lots of adult fun, too, including a 5K race and rock band Daughtry appearing on the Main Stage on Saturday night.

Parking can be a bit tricky. Take the train and make use of remote parking shuttles from the Naperville Metra Station – Burlington Lot. If you’re driving, take advantage of shuttles from North Central College and All Saints Academy.
