Little Green Baby Boutique - Sneak PeekFriday, April 23, 2010
Second City Baby
I had the opportunity today to get a preview of a new boutique in the Rockwell Gardens neighborhood. (Which, btw looks like Mayberry with the El running through it - so adorable!)
The store, called Little Green Baby, is re-opening tomorrow under new owner Kim Sledgister. Keeping the theme, but changing the interior and products from the previous owner, Sledgister aims to sell products that are not only green, but also take social awareness and fair trade into account. No sweatshop-mill baby clothes here.
Sledgister will carry lines like Nosilla Organics, Lucky Jade and Tea Collection. One item I liked were the shoes by Little Soles of Canada which have been tested on par with food quality - meaning what's good enough to make the shoes is good enough to go in the baby's mouth. Brilliant!
In addition, all fixtures and display cases in Sledgister's store are made of natural materials or are from the Salvation Army - recycled pieces instead of buying new. A mom of 2, Sledgister knows what products her kids like to wear and use and has created an impressive collection of her taste for all of us to get for ourselves.
Little Green Baby is located at 4654 N. Rockwell St. in Chicago. If you mention Second City Baby Blog you get 10% off your next purchase!
