Possible peanut allergy contamination forces Nestle to recall popular Halloween candy

There's never a good time to recall candy, but odds are a week before Halloween is an especially bad time. Nestlé is recalling a single batch of Raisinet Fun Paks - those are the 10-oz. bags especially popular for trick-or-treaters - because of a possible peanut contamination.

Although the candy contains a "made on equipment that also processes peanuts" warning, the candy should not contain peanuts, which account for a growing percentage of food allergies and kill more than 100 Americans each year.

The recall began on Friday and affects bags with a production code of 02015748. The candy was sold only at Target, Shop Rite and Don Quixote retail stores and three complaints have been received so far.

Contact Nestlé consumer services directly at 1-800-478-5670 for a full refund.
