More than 12,000 jogging strollers manufactured by two companies
were recalled Wednesday because of a potential risk of
strangulation. Valcro Baby recalled its Tri Mode Single and Twin
Jogging Strollers, and Tike Tech recalled its Single City X3 and X3
Sport Jogging Strollers.
The hazard comes from the grab bar that goes across front of the
stroller. If not strapped in properly, children's bodies can fall
through the gap between the grab bar and seat and become trapped.
This forces their neck against the grab bar which can stop them
from breathing. So far no incidents have been reported, and federal
regulators caution parents to always strap children into strollers
with the safety harness.
