5 places where fictional characters come to life

Do your kids love meeting their favorite characters? You don’t need a flight to Florida or to wait for Six Flags to open to meet your favorite fictional characters in real life. With spring break starting next week for some, there are several places where you can stop in and meet your favorite storybook or movie character.

Princess and Superhero Day at Volo Auto Museum

Come check out your favorite superheroes and princesses on March 29, while also getting the chance to peruse all the cool museum displays. Get your picture taken with Cinderella, Snow White, Ariel, Belle and Elsa in their Disney settings. Superheroes will meander the showrooms, just ready to strike a pose with your little ones. All junior princesses and superheroes get free admission. Kids 13 and under get in free when they dress in costume. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Characters will be coming and going throughout the entire day, but peak appearance times are from 12–3 p.m.

Cinderella at Learning Express Toys Lake Zurich

On March 29, from 12:00-2:00 p.m., kids get the chance to meet and greet Cinderella from the new live action movie. Dressing up is encouraged. Contact the store at 837-540-4566 for more information.

Rink Side Sports & Family Entertainment Center

The bunny is everywhere this time of year, and he will be hopping by for their monthly Share a Story. This free storytime will include visits from Rink Side’s mascot, the Easter Bunny and an egg hunt. Special meal and games packages available. Contact Rink Side at 847-856-1064.

Marriott Theater For Young Audience’s

You’ve never seen a princess story quite like this. The theater’s current production of the Princess and the Pea takes a fun, modern spin on this classic fairytale. The prince uses a reality game show to choose his princess. Kids will be fully entertained in this interactive and fun show. The best part is that the kids get to participate in a Q & A, as well as talk and take pictures with performers after the show. Upcoming performances are at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on March 27 and 28 and April 2, 3, and 4. The show runs through May 3.

Kohl Children’s Museum

This is an event for the kid that doesn’t just want to see the characters, but actually be the character themselves. Every Thursday at 1:30 p.m., children get a chance to free their inner actor with a variety of creative and dramatic exercises. Free with museum admission. Go on March 31 for Make Believe Day, where the theme will be sports, and kids can dress as their favorite sports team and participate in fun challenges. On Make Believe Day only, receive free child’s admission when you bring a nonperishable canned item, boxed item or gently used clothing to donate to local charities.
