Who knew that spring would arrive so early in Chicago? At Families in the
Loop (FITL), where I spend most of my days toiling away, we'd
certainly like to say we had an inkling way back in December.
That's when we decided that our next Brunch & Boogie would pay
homage to those rowdy and carefree college spring breaks of
yesteryear. Whether your vacations were beach-y, save-the-earth-y,
homebound, or outward bound, you will absolutely love the party
we're throwing for Chicago families on March 25 at the gorgeous
Lincoln Hall: FITL's Spring Fling!
Our Brunch & Boogie series started so innocently a year ago,
when FITL co-founder, Jamie Fishman, and I wanted to throw a party
that parents would enjoy as much as the tots did. We hired an
insanely talented band, cut off ticket sales at 70 people, and put
out some of Lincoln Hall's yummy mac 'n cheese. As fast as you can
say, "so not boring," the tickets were gone and families were
clamoring for us to organize another. "Hmmm," we thought. "That was
pretty cool." So for the next one, we doubled the number of tickets
and - bam! - sold out again.
Fast forward a year later, and our little idea has become a
staple of the community, a magical morning where fantastic
businesses pamper local parents and kids play to their hearts'
What's the secret to Brunch & Boogie's success? Simple. We
start with great food, parent-friendly tunes, and cool kids'
activities. Then we add a little Families in the Loop flair, which
this time around includes a rockin' Chicago entertainer named DJ
Zeke Sulkes, a meet-and-greet with local celebrity, health expert,
and author of Real Moms Love To Eat, Beth Aldrich, free mini spa
treatments with the luxurious Beauty on Call, and - I can't even
believe this - our city's first family flash mob with the pros from
All About Dance. What could be better, Chicago families?
Do you know the businesses that are joining us for FITL's Spring
Fling? If not, you should. These are names that should be on your
speed dial, because when it comes to taking care of Chicago parents
and children, no one does it better. We've got Urba Baby, Water
Tower Dental Care, The Little Gym, Olive.You.Nanny, Bright
Horizons, Bum Bul Bee Photo + Films, Corner Bakery (my home away
from home), and Frasca Pizzeria + Wine Bar, who will serve up the
yummiest bruschetta this side of Italy.
And for Spring Fling, we're thrilled to introduce a couple of
newbies to the Chicago scene. The first is artizone, a
top-of-the-line food delivery service that brings the city's finest
foods right to your door. We'll also hang out with the gang from
SquareSpot, a VIP club where parents snag special deals, discounts,
and coupons from the stores we already adore. Are there others? You
bet, and they're all adding fabulous treats to the already plump
swag bags each family gets just for attending. Each bag contains
over $100 in gifts and savings!
So if you're ready for a morning of fierce fun, exceptional
entertainment, and goodies galore, look no further. Join us for a
spring break party that you and your little ones will remember
forever. See you on March 25 at Lincoln Hall.
