When I think of summertime, my mind often drifts to baseball. I can remember spending lazy Saturdays by watching games on our screened-in porch in the backyard, playing pick-up games in the park and going to a White Sox game with my family.
The times I have spent at baseball games with my family bring back some of the happiest family memories. However, I don’t know if it’s because I am a casual baseball fan, because I am more sentimental or because sometimes, baseball isn’t about who wins or loses. I cannot tell you who the White Sox played or if the White Sox won, and I can barely remember where we sat either at Comiskey Park or U.S. Cellular Field.
However, I can remember the feeling I had.
This Saturday, May 30, I look forward to re-creating that feeling with my own kids at Family Field Day with the Chicago White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field. We will be surprising the kids by taking them to Family Field Day.
My whole family will get the chance to play catch in the outfield, get pictures on the field, tour the dugouts, throw around a ball in the bullpens and get that real summer feeling of baseball, just like a true baseball player.
That perfect feeling of a quintessential American summer. The smell of hot dogs and popcorn, the blazing heat, the sounds of cheers and bats hitting balls, that leap of excitement you get in the pit of your stomach when you find out you’re going to a baseball game and just time spent together as a family. However, we will get to experience all those feelings right on the field!
You too can experience Family Field Day at U.S. Cellular Field. For tickets, check out White Sox Charities Family Field Day, and take part in America’s greatest past-time, just like you’re one of the pros.
I will be attending this event as a guest of the White Sox.
