3 events to get on your February calendar

Enchanted Tales

 

When: Feb. 1-3, 8-10, 14-18

 

Where: Various locations in Chicago

 

If your kids already know all the words to both “Be Our Guest” and “Mother Knows Best” thanks to Disney DVD and Blu-Ray, now’s the chance to check out favored princesses on the big screen. As part of its Enchanted Tales series, Marcus Cinemas will show three Disney animated movies on weekends in February for $5 per person. On the schedule is “Tangled,” “Beauty and the Beast” and “Lilo & Stitch.” There are Marcus theaters in Addison, Bloomington, Chicago Heights, Elgin, Gurnee, O’Fallon and Orland Park.

 

Sesame Street Live: Make Your Magic

 

When: Feb. 9-10

 

Where: Chicago Theatre, 175 N. State St., Chicag

 

Maybe your toddler missed “Sesame Street Live” when it was in Rosemont in October, or loved it so much he or she can’t wait for the next one, Elmo, Cookie Monster and friends will be downtown for the next show. The Muppets show up at the Chicago Theater for “Sesame Street Live: Make Your Magic” for six shows during the weekend of Feb. 9-10. The crew presents an interactive show perfect for toddlers, preschoolers and fans of the Street.

 

Hearts Desire

 

When: Through March 17

 

Where: Elmhurst History Museum, 120 E. Park Ave., Elmhurst

 

The Elmhurst History Museum is tackling love this month with its exhibit “Hearts Desire.” Take a peek at centuries-old wedding dresses, detailed valentines and how tokens of affection (chocolate!) have evolved. On Feb. 9, your kids can try their hands at Victorian Valentine Making, constructing their own tokens, complete with elaborate designs and ruffled edges. Preregistration is required for the event.
