I've finally seen it - the first sign of spring! Wicker Park Garden, at 1425 N. Damen Ave., will be holding its plant sale on Saturday and Sunday, May 7 and 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free; payment for any plants you purchase should be in the form of cash or check. This sale is rain or shine! The event will be held on the West side of the field house, or inside the Wicker Park Fieldhouse if there is rain.

In addition to the plant sale, several workshops will be held on Saturday for a fee. On Saturday and Sunday, you'll also have the opportunity to bring your own container to fill with soil and plants, or get your pruners sharpened.

Every Saturday from 10-1 until November, residents have the opportunity to come out and tend to the Wicker Park Garden. For more info, you can contact wpgarden@aol.com.

After visiting the Wicker Park Garden Club's website, I learned that there is a "Wicker Park Kids Grow" series every spring and fall. Kids sign up for free programming on Thursdays where they'll create a project for Wicker Park, and one for themselves to take home. We've missed the start for the spring series, but I'll be checking this out in the fall! For now, I'm going to dream about warm weather and my rooftop garden…
