The ultimate girls day in Chicago

One of my favorite spring events in Chicago is the annual City Style House Tour. This is Chicago’s most exclusive self-guided, go at your own pace, walking tour. This year the tour offers an incredible selection of East Lincoln Park homes for public viewing on one day only.

If you are an interior design buff or have always admired the stately facades and perfectly landscaped yards of East Lincoln Park, this is your chance to see the beauty behind those gorgeous doors. Many of these homes have been featured in Chicago Home + Garden, the Chicago Tribune and Veranda. You’ll see firsthand how designers such as Karen Pearson, Jennifer Miller, Larry Vodak and Ruthie Sommers work their creative magic. I always find it so fun to see the contrasting styles and choices that these amazingly creative people come up with. I am so envious of people with a strong eye for design as I have absolutely none (but can totally appreciate it).

This year the tour is on Sunday, May 18, 2014 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The tour kicks off with a catered reception at Lincoln Park 2550. Tickets are $150 (event proceeds benefit the students of the Chicago City Day School), which is why I think this event makes the ultimate Mother’s Day gift. Invite your mom to spend the day with you and see these beautiful homes or ask your husband to give a ticket to you as a gift (and have him watch the kids). Grab a group of girlfriends, your sunglasses and have the ultimate girl’s day out.
