Opening the Vault: Mummies

View more than 20 mummified humans and animals from Egypt and Peru. The Field Museum obtained most of these remains from the World's Columbian Exposition in 1893, and many have not been on display since. The mummies are shown along with detailed scan images, allowing visitors to see pointers to the methods used for mummification, signs of serious injuries and illnesses, and offerings and jewelry placed inside the wrappings.
