This special exhibit features the Apatosaurus, one of the largest land animals that ever existed.  View an Apatosaurus skull and leg bones, see how you measure up to an Apatosaurus leg and footprint, touch a fossilized dinosaur bone and coprolite and more.

Play with the Sea Life

Wonder Works | Oak Park, Ill.

The Wonder Works exhibits are populated with a wide variety of pretend sea life that can be part of your child's play. Search for the plastic fish or whales in the Great Outdoors, adopt a farm animal under the life-sized cow, build a zoo for the plastic mammals in Build It, or identify the plush birds in the orchard. New creatures are rotated in every month.

When: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Cool Kids Winter Play

Morton Arboretum | Lisle, Ill.

A guided glimpse into the world of outdoor play will depend on the day. Possibilities include snowman and snow fort building with natural materials or garden scavenger hunt for natural objects. Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Dec. 1-Feb. 28.

Paint Covered Wednesdays

Wonder Works | Oak Park, Ill.

Children use a large variety of paints, styles and canvases as they learn to tell their stories. Painting helps children by enhancing problem solving skills, improving fine motor skills, boosting self-esteem and allows them to express themselves in a positive way.

Beginner's Art Studio

Wonder Works | Oak Park, Ill.

Children and adults can explore their creative sides in this fully engaging, open-ended art experience. Materials change daily, trained facilitators assist with the artistic process, while children create masterpeices. The drop-in art studio is open 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday-Saturday; 12:30-4:30 p.m. Sunday.

The Bully Show

AlphaBet Soup Productions | Lombard, Ill.

Join Professor McBumble and his group of rag tag actors as they present three different fairy tales with an anti-bullying message. Updated adaptions of Little Red Ridinghood, The Ugly Duckling & Three Billy Goats Gruff are performed in this world premiere musical. "It's not cool to be cruel!" "It's so lame to call people names!" are just a few of the lesson taught in this important show. Performances are from Oct. 2-May 2 at locations throughout Chicago and the suburbs.
