Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives

Museum of Science and Industry | Chicago, Ill.

The exhibit showcases the creative accomplishments and innovations of one of Chicago's native sons, Walt Disney, and the ongoing legacy of the company that bears his name. Features artifacts that have not been widely seen by the public, including drawings, props, costumes, artwork from classic Disney animation, theme park attractions, TV shows and live action films, plus items from contemporary Disney milestones. Hands-on, interactive stations bring Disney's technological breakthroughs in animation and motion pictures to life. Guests can try recording sound effects, explore Disney's revolutionary MultiPlane film camera and learn to draw some of their favorite Disney characters in the Animation Academy.

Cost: $9, $7 kids 3-11, plus admission

The Three Little Pigs

When the pigpen starts to look like a real sty, Mama says it's time to leave and build something new. Help Cha, Stu, and Bao watch for wolves while they use hay, sticks, and bricks to make it in a big, bad world. Performances run Jan. 22-May 17, 2014.

Ramona Quimby

Ramona Quimby is about to start 3rd grade and everything is about to change. Her sister Beezus guides us through a full year on Klickitat Street, bringing a change for Dad, a rivalry for Ramona, and the speediest wedding this side of Alaska. Runs from Feb. 6-May 18.

Red Kite, Brown Box

Chicago Children's Theatre | Chicago, Ill.

A live theatre experience for children on the autism spectrum and their families. Actors gently guide children on an interactive journey into a home filled with empty cardboard boxes, just waiting to be explored and ready to reveal delightful treasures inside.

Social Group

The Chicago Lighthouse Vision Rehabilitation Center (The Chicago Lighthouse North) | Glenview, Ill.

Kids have the opportunity to build long-lasting friendships through organized play that aims for positive group interaction. This lively group will also eat a small meal together to further enhance social development and maximize each child's potential. Families are asked to bring their own lunch. An interesting sensory food item will be provided.
