The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey

Provision Theater Company | Chicago, Ill.

When a broken hearted boy loses the treasured wooden nativity set that links him to his dead father, his worried mother persuades a lonely ill-tempered woodcarver to create a replacement, and to allow her son to watch him work on it. Performances are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday from Nov. 21-Dec. 23. Also have a select number of Wednesday morning matinees at 10 a.m.

The Christmas Schooner

The whole family will enjoy this heart-warming story of the first Christmas tree ship, and the family who risked their lives to fill Chicago with the Christmas spirit. Performances are from Nov. 23 to Dec. 30. The schedule is Wednesdays at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays at 7:30 p.m, Saturdays at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 1 p,m.

Chicago Human Rhythm Project's Global Rhythms 8

Chicago debut of ScrapArtsMusic, an earth-friendly, Vancouver-based company that creates percussion performances using kinetic instruments crafted from industrial scraps.  With instruments fashioned from offbeat materials, ranging from accordion parts to artillery shells, ScrapArtsMusic delivers an intoxicating mix of intricate rhythms, raw energy, athletic choreography and a highly inventive percussive arts concert.
Performances are 8 p.m. Nov. 24 and 3 p.m. Nov. 25.

Disney's Fantasia

Chicago Symphony Orchestra | Chicago, Ill.

Performance of Disney's groundbreaking combination of symphonic music and animation, Fantasia. Magnificent repertoire from the original 1940 version and Fantasia 2000, including The Sorcerer's Apprentice, Beethoven's Fifth Symphony and The Nutcracker Suite, will be performed by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra while Disney's footage is shown on the big screen. Performances run Nov. 23-25.
