President's Day - Adventure Quest

Emily Oaks Nature Center | Skokie, Ill.

The outdoor adventure includes snowshoeing, geocaching, log climbing, or animal tracking, depending on weather conditions. Hot chocolate and trail mix provided.

LEGO BATMAN Movie Days

Legoland Discovery Center | Schaumburg, Ill.

Two weekends of free giveaways, costume character meet-and-greets and themed scavenger hunts and builds. Activities include a Batmobile build-and-test station and gadget building in the Master Builder Academy’s bat cave.

Monster Jam

Allstate Arena | Rosemont, Ill.

The Monster Jam Triple Threat Series can only be seen in select cities and features the most extreme athletes of Monster Jam. Chicago-area fans will witness a fierce battle for the championship with each competitor using customized high-powered vehicles: Monster Jam Speedsters, Monster Jam ATVs and the famous Monster Jam trucks. Pit Parties (10:30 a.m.-noon Saturday and Sunday) give fans the opportunity to meet the Monster Jam athletes and get up close to the Monster Jam trucks.

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday; 1 and 7 p.m. Saturday; 1 and 6:30 p.m. Sunday; 1 p.m. Monday.
Cost: $22, $12 kids 12 and under; $10 Pit Passes

Presidents Day Kumbaya Chess Workshop

Edgebrook Lutheran Church host for Chess-Ed Camps | Chicago, Ill.

The workshop provides children at all levels with a tangible means to improve their chess skills through instruction, practice and one-on-one coaching. Led by Super Trainer Shiva Maharaj and staff from Chess-Ed, the workshop features opening theory, middle game planning and combinations, and winning endgame technique. In addition, puzzling, analysis of famous games and tournament-like game playing will be included. Students will be grouped according to skill level. Lake County Jewish Community Campus | Lake Zurich, Ill.

Mini Camps include more than two hours of specialty activities and conclude with a group pizza lunch.  Art- Clay Monet is offering two art projects – painting a ceramic plate and making key chain charms; Science- Explore electricity with games and experiments; Golf & Sports- Learn the strokes and techniques of putting and swinging from Chicago School of Golf.

Hand-Pulled Lollipop Class

Sweet Pete's Candy | Lake Forest, Ill.

Learn the art of old fashioned candy making. Sweet Pete’s confectioners turn boiled sugar into hand pulled lollipops. Guests shape their own lollipops to take home.

Chocolate Bar Your Way Class

Brick by Brick

Museum of Science and Industry | Chicago, Ill.

Features a spectacular collection of more than a dozen giant Lego-built structures of engineering marvels, including a 60-foot long Golden Gate Bridge. Experience Rock N’ Roll
