Chris and Martin Kratt from their PBS show Wild Kratts bring their adventures to Brookfield Zoo as they teach youngsters about rare wildlife behaviors. The Amazon Adventure show takes place on the zoo’s West Mall at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and they will be signing autographs from 2-4 p.m. each day.
Celebrate Vesuvius Day while learning about what makes a volcano erupt. Students participate in a simulated volcanic eruption while talking about Mt. Vesuvius and other volcanoes around the world.
Community members can visit both the Peck House and the Victorian Cottage for fun, family-friendly events. Tours of the Peck Homestead and kids games and activities will be available (noon-4 p.m.). The Victorian Cottage will host a pig roast and additional activities including live music (noon-5 p.m.).
The day will kick off with a brief informational meeting about the CTWS program including a chance to meet the faculty. Afterwards, guests can participate in a variety of workshops, sign up for classes, and enjoy treats and activities, such as snow cones and a jump castle.
Event features a top-drawer collection of well-known comics artists and writers and a variety of activities, exhibitors and special attractions. Popular celebrities on the roster include a host of “The Walking Dead” cast members. Wrestling fans are geared for the appearance of five WWE standouts. “Star Trek: The Next Generation” enthusiasts are in for a special treat as six of its stars reunite for a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the program's final episode. A lineup of topical programming takes place all three days at the event, with celebrity Q&As, the Wizard World Film Festival, comics-themed sessions, costume contest, movie screenings, evening parties and more. Sunday is also Kids Day, with an array of activities and programming specially designed for the younger Wizard World fans.

The four-day “Grease” themed rock-n-roll carnival helps celebrate the Taft High School’s 75th anniversary and raises funds to restore the Taft Campus and for Norwood Park District improvements. Windy City Amusement provides carnival rides, plus music, a beer garden, food trucks, classic cars and food including cotton candy, funnel cakes and elephant ears to hot dogs, corn dogs, soft pretzels, caramel apples and lemonade.
Representatives will share information on fire safety, home safety, dog bite prevention and nutrition. Also features free child ID cards processed on-site, and children will get the chance to participate in an interactive “Touch-a-Truck” exhibit featuring a real medical helicopter, fire trucks, ambulances, a police SUV and more.
