Concert in the Park

Pottawatomie Park | St. Charles, Ill.

FREE

The Fox Valley Academy and Philharmonic will perform uniquely American music on its “Concert in the Park” performance Sunday, June 29th at 4:30pm at Pottawatomie Park in St. Charles.
The Philharmonic will perform classical favorites. The Academy ensembles will also offer the audience the opportunity to sing-along to musical favorites from Broadway musicals as well as patriotic pieces in honor of the Independence Day holiday. Additionally, the concert includes popular tunes by Irving Berlin and Charles Ives. Alongside American composers, “Tchaikovsky’s music often captures the spirit of independence. Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture” embodies the struggle of freedom from oppression,” noted Fox Valley Philharmonic Music Director, Maryann Flock. “Tchaikovsky’s music is always a fitting celebration of our country’s independence.”
The program will conclude with the traditional playing of John Philip Sousa’s “Stars and Stripes Forever” conducted by the city of St. Charles’ Honorable Mayor Raymond Rogina. Mayor Rogina welcomes the Academy of Music Performance and the Philharmonic to the Fox Valley area as they present a spectacular summer concert.
The concert at Pottawatomie Park is free and open to the public and is located at 8 North Avenue in St. Charles. There is plenty of open space to bring lawn chairs or a blanket. With a concert time of 4:30pm, the Academy and Philharmonic invite the audience to bring a picnic dinner or use the concessions available at Pottawatomie Park. This concert is made possible through a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.  For more information call 630-476-9072, or visit us online at www.FVacademy.org.
