The Village of Long Grove is transformed in to a chocolate lover's paradise. Enjoy live music, food and wine pairings and great children's activities, including rides for all ages, rock climbing, obstacle courses, pony and kiddie rides.

A show of fine arts and crafts. Microsoft will be offering a fun kid's activity along with Mariano's giveaways. Wilder Mansion will be open for coffee, pastries, and lunch provided by Café Amano on both days.

Cinco de Mayo Pinata Party

Lincoln Park Zoo | Chicago, Ill.

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo by building piñatas, which are a type of enrichment that many animals from meerkats to mongoose to tigers love to tear apart in hopes of finding treats inside. Create piñatas for your favorite zoo animals and then head out into the zoo to watch them tear the piñatas to pieces.

When: 9-10:30 a.m., 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 1-2:30 p.m.

Touch a Truck Family Festival

Kohl Children's Museum | Northfield, Ill.


Kids can get up close and personal with 25 full-sized vehicles, includingfire engines, dump trucks, semis and tractors. The festivities will also include food, sweet treats, music, face painting and rides on the Great Chicago Kiddie Express, a child-sized train.

The Legends of Oz Express

Kohl Children's Museum | Glenview, Ill.


Families can follow their hearts at the Tin Man’s Friendship Club by making friendship pins, test their brains in the Scarecrow’s Workshop with arts and crafts, and show their courage by performing on the Lion’s “Mane” stage. They will also hang out in cozy “Candy County” and hear the story that inspired the film, Dorothy of Oz, written by celebrated children’s author Roger Stanton Baum. Kids will virtually follow the yellow brick road in the “Legends of Oz World” iPad gaming stations, and Dorothy and her friends will be there for pictures, prizes and fun. Guests are encouraged to bring a new book to be donated to Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.
