Montessori Madness Presentation

Montessori parent Trevor Eissler will guest lecture on the benefits of Montessori as compared to traditional education. Following the lecture, there will be a wine & cheese reception, book-signing and tour of Gateway Montessori (across the street). Parents will ahve an opportunity to speak with Montessori teachers and parents.

Family to Family Education Program

This 12-week course is designed specifically for parents, siblings, spouses, teen-age and adult children and significant others of persons dealing with severe and persistent mental illness. To register, call the NAMI DuPage office at (630) 752-0066, ext. 210. Class begins Sept. 2 and runs through Nov. 18. Two courses are held, at Knox Presbyterian Church, Naperville, and at NAMI DuPage in Wheaton.

Family Fun Festival

Families can enjoy free performances and hands-on activities in the Family Fun Tent every day from June 9-Sept.3 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Regular activities include Wiggleworms at 10 a.m., reading circle at 11 a.m., and concerts at 1 p.m. The Activity Zone will feature craft projects, science, environmental and garden activities. Chicago Jazz Festival

Celebrating one of the city's legendary music genre on four stages including the newest entertainment area, the Chicago Community Trust Young Lions stage which presents high school and college age jazz musicians. Noon-4 p.m. Sept. 2 in Millennium Park, noon-3 p.m. Sept. 3 at the Chicago Cultural Center, 4-9:30 p.m. Sept. 3 in Millennium Park, 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m. in Grant Park.

Steelroots: Tobin at the Morton Arboretum

This fine-art exhibit of sculptures by Steve Tobin features 12 massive root form sculptures of steel pipe up to 40 feet high, as well as bronze sculptures of a forest floor and other pieces.

National Honey Month
