Chicago Family Fun Expo

Chicago Family Fun Expo | St. Charles, Ill.

The Expo is designed to help bring families together and find educational, healthy and fun activities. The goal to help educate families in a fun environment and to open up the resources available to them in the local area. Learn about all different types of things to see and do. Throughout the event are fun activities for families to do. Live stage demonstrations, face painting, balloon animals and magic shows.

Fall Festival

Susanna Farms | Lake Villa, Ill.

Kids can play in the mini maze of clover and sunflowers and enjoy a scenic hayride or train ride. Plus, a corn box, sand box, horseback rides , an obstacle course, kites, archery, face painting, baggo and hula hoop. Pumpkin, mums, decorative plants, corn stocks are for sale. The Snack Shack is open for brats, hotdogs, burgers and treats.

Hiking for Hounds

Klehm Arboretum & Botanic Garden | Rockford, Ill.

Bring your costumed canine friends to spend a day enjoying and exploring the gardens and grounds. At 1p.m., dog owners are encouraged to enter their furry friends into a free costume contest. In addition, there will be vendors with pet-friendly products to visit and an adoption event featuring local advocacy organizations.

When: 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Cost: $3, $1.50 seniors and kids

Trains, Tricks & Treats

Chicago Botanic Garden | Glencoe, Ill.

Celebrate Halloween in the Model Railroad Garden, decorated with spider webs, spiders, ghosts, goblins, and pumpkins, as well as seasonal plant materials. Visitors are encouraged to come in costume. An array of small treats and treasures to take home can be found throughout the Model Railroad Garden. Kids can take part in a planting activity.

 

When: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Cost: $6, $4 kids 3-12; $5 members, $3 members 3-12

Curious Kids Nature Club

Lake View Nature Center | Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.

Kids make discoveries about the earth through art, play and exploration. Learn about awesome animals and their roles in nature. Dress for outdoor adventures and wear gym shoes. Meal and snack included. Oct. 10, Nov. 7.

Costume Design with Anna Glowacki

Chicago Children's Museum | Chicago, Ill.

Costume designer Anna Glowacki leads a hands-on workshop that inspires children to create accessories that will add the final touches to their Halloween costumes.

Family Fall Festival

Busy Brains Children’s Museum | Lake Villa, Ill.

FREE  

Includes a free cookie decorating contest sponsored by Lovin’ Oven cakery. Other activities include face painting, crafts, a 50/50 raffle, music and food for purchase. The museum’s travelling exhibits will also be on hand for play and exploration.
